Bach wrote his great setting of the St John Passion for Good Friday 1724 but revised it radically the following year, changing several of the arias and greatly increasing the number of setting of chorales.  This performance is a rare opportunity to hear this fascinating alternative version, given with a small group of voices and Baroque instruments.
