In this special concert we mark the 400th anniversary of the death of one of England’s greatest composers; Orlando Gibbons died suddenly on 5 June 1625, while in Canterbury with the court to welcome Charles I’s bride Henrietta Maria from France. We cover the whole range of Gibbons’s music, from full and verse anthems (including ‘This is the record of John’) through madrigals (‘What is our life’ and ‘The silver swan’) and the amusing Cries of London, to his superb music for viol consort.

An enlarged Psalmody is partnered by a distinguished team of six viol players and chamber organ. A concert not to be missed.

Tickets: £20 (reserved) and £15 (unreserved)
Half-price tickets are available to full-time students and those under 30.
